Six nights, one room, two microphones and a piano that would not stay in tune
The Chapel is not a comfortable place to record. It is cold, the ceiling is far too high for drums, and the piano drifts sharp under stage lights.
All of which turned out to be the point. The natural reverb of the room became the main effect on the record, and the tuning drift on Static Heart was kept in the final mix.
